Terms of Service

These terms apply when you use Dovetally, the website at dovetally.com and the app. By using Dovetally you agree to them. "Dovetally", "we" and "us" mean the people who run Dovetally; "you" means the person using it, or the business you use it for.

1. The service

Dovetally helps you keep the books of a business: income, expenses, mileage, sales, stock, and the summaries you need at tax time.

• Free includes the bookkeeping app. Your books are kept on your device.
• Pro adds the cloud and the AI: backup and sync across devices, teammates and cashiers, Dovetally Agent, reading receipts and documents into your Inbox, scanning paper orders, and backups to your Google Drive.

We may improve, change or remove features. If we remove a paid feature you rely on, we will tell you in advance.

2. Your account

You need an account for Pro. Give accurate details and keep your password safe. You are responsible for what happens in your account and your workspaces, including what the teammates and cashiers you invite do there. Tell us right away at [email protected] if you think someone else has used your account.

3. Your data

Your books are yours. You give us permission to store, copy and process them only as needed to run Dovetally for you, for example to sync them, back them up, or answer your questions to the agent. We don't sell your data. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle it.

On the free plan your books are only on your device. If the device is lost or its storage is cleared, we cannot get them back. Save a backup file regularly (the app reminds you every 30 days).

4. Not professional advice

Dovetally organizes your records and estimates figures such as taxes. It is not tax, legal or accounting advice and does not replace an accountant. Check the figures before you file or pay anything; you are responsible for your returns and payments.

5. Dovetally Agent and AI features

The AI can make mistakes: it may misread a receipt or give a wrong answer. The agent asks for your approval before it deletes anything, changes your tax setup, changes sales or stock, or sends anything outside the app; read what it proposes before you approve, and check the records it adds. Use of the AI features is limited by a monthly allowance that comes with Pro.

6. Pro: payment, renewal and refunds

• Pro is paid in advance for a month or a year, at the price shown before you pay. Payments are processed by NOWPayments.
• Pro does not renew by itself and we never charge you automatically. Before your plan ends, we email you a link to pay for the next period: 5 days before a monthly plan ends, 14 days before a yearly plan ends. You can turn these links off at any time from the Plan screen.
• If you don't renew, your workspace goes back to the free plan at the end of the paid period. Your books stay on your devices, and your cloud copy is kept so it is there if you upgrade again.
• You can ask for a refund from the Plan screen. We review every request. If it is approved, the refund is sent to the address you give, usually within a few business days.
• If prices change, the new price applies only from your next period, and we will tell you before then.

7. Acceptable use

Don't use Dovetally to:

• break the law, including tax law, or help someone else do so;
• store or send content you have no right to use;
• try to reach accounts or data that are not yours, or test, probe or disrupt our systems without our written permission;
• overload the service, scrape it, or get around the limits of your plan;
• resell the service without our agreement.

8. Other services

Some features use services from other companies, such as Google for sign-in and Drive backups, and NOWPayments for payments. Their own terms apply to your use of them.

9. Availability

We work to keep Dovetally available, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors. The app keeps working offline on your device, and Pro syncs again when the connection returns.

10. Ending

You can stop using Dovetally at any time and ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts the service or other users at risk. Unless the problem is serious or the law prevents it, we will tell you first and give you time to export your books.

11. Disclaimer

Dovetally is provided "as is". As far as the law allows, we make no promises beyond those in these terms, including about merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or the accuracy of figures the app or the AI produces.

12. Limitation of liability

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits, lost data, or penalties from a filing. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for Dovetally in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

13. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we will update the date at the top. If a change matters, we will tell you in the app or by email before it applies. If you keep using Dovetally after it applies, you accept the new terms.
